The longtime editor of a Montgomery newspaper is in critical condition after a car crash Friday night.
Art Parker, managing editor of the Montgomery Independent was in a collision after a Montgomery Academy football game he was covering for the newspaper, according to publisher Jeff Martin.
“It sounds like a lot of injuries came from his seatbelt, which of course saved him,” said Martin.
Martin said a witness to the crash saw two cars that were racing bump into each other, causing one to drive into Parker’s lane and collide with his vehicle
Parker, who is married and has two daughters, has since undergone surgery at Baptist Medical Center South to stop the bleeding of internal organs and to repair several broken bones, according to Martin.
